Reading Week, Friday 23rd February to Friday 2nd March to celebrate World Book Day

Following on from the success of the history day, on Wednesday 28th February, the children and staff dressed up in warm pyjamas and lounge wear to celebrate reading with their favourite book and toy. All around the school children enjoyed relaxing and reading for pleasure.

In classrooms, willing parent/carer and staff volunteers read their favourite books to the year groups. Also classes could be heard practising their history songs ready for their grand performances on Friday 2nd March 2018.

Children made and brought in special artefacts and models to provide ideas for storywriting and storytelling.

Despite the school closures on Thursday and Friday of our reading week, the children completed their writing and photos for a large timeline display in the School Hall. It looks great! They also used the timeline to plot their history song before singing it to the other classes on the rescheduled day of Friday 9th March. It was good to hear such facts sung so enthusiastically by all of the children. The actions and dance moves added to the fun and enjoyment of the performances. We also consider that we now know far more facts about history and where they fit into the past. Well done everyone!

The rescheduled Book Sale across the whole school was well supported by everyone who donated books and everyone one who bought books. We sold over three hundred books at the bargain price of 30p each! A great success! Thank you everyone.
