As you may be aware, over the last month or so, we have had a school football tournament running. This was planned and developed by Henry in Year 5, with the support of Mrs Naylor. It has caused great excitement at lunchtimes, and the children have been highly passionate about taking part, cheering the teams on and ultimately supporting the final this week. Huge congratulations and well done to the Yellow Team (Ben, Freddie, Elsie, Lenny, Alfie, Joshua, Deacon and Monty) for winning the tournament. Well done to the Red Team who were the runners up. These children have all received a medal today in our Celebration Worship, as well as the golden cup being presented to the Yellow Team. All children who took part have received a well done certificate, but a special mention went to the following children:
Strongest defender: Josh
Most impartial referees: Indie and Daniel
Best all round player: Monty
Best Goalie: Lenny and Mia
Golden boot: Jacob
Golden Goal: Freddie
We have to give a very special mention to Henry who has organised, overseen and led this tournament incredibly well. He too has received a special gift to say thank you today in Celebration Worship. He has impressively worked alongside Mrs Naylor to give the children a very special event over the summer term. Well done, thanks and congratulations go to Henry.
Well done to Class 5 & 6 who took part in the Cathedral Concert this week. They sang beautifully and gave the audience a very special time, along with other local schools.
Well done to the children who showed off their drumming skills this week at The Bishop's Annual Tea Party.
Our Year 6 children had a very special day at Winchester Cathedral, taking part in their Diocese Leavers' Service.
Well done to the children who took part in the Penguins Swimming Gala on Friday 9th June. They all demonstrated amazing sportsmanship and showed great support of each other. We were proud of all of them.
We had our 'Wheels Up' sessions throughout the week with classes bringing in scooters, skateboards and skates with the essential safety gear. This was a huge success and enjoyed by all.
Our reading shed is now in use after the grand opening this week with School Council declaring it open and untying the ribbon! They have worked hard with our PTA to come up with the design of the shed and they shared this with the rest of the school this week. The bunting decorating the shed is made from recycled sari material and the lights and decorations were bought from Oxfam as School Council wanted Fair Trade to be part of the design. There are small chalk boards and activities for children to use at breaktimes as well.
The books are there for all to use and enjoy at playtime and lunchtime, as well as take home if a child would like more access to books.
We are delighted with our Reading Shed and School Council got a well deserved round of applause for making it happen! Thanks to them and the PTA!
