Procedures for Severe Weather, Snow and Icy Conditions
Our procedure for closing school due to snow and severe weather, which are in line with Hampshire’s advice, are outlined below. The decision to close is at the discretion of the Headteacher.
As far as possible we will remain open, as long as we are able to provide adequate staffing, heating and water systems and safe and secure movement on and around the school site. If we are able to open during icy and snowy conditions, we will set up marked pathways to ensure everyone can move safely to and from the school entrances and exits.
Keep looking on Hantsnet and our school website from 7.00am to see if the school is closed. Please listen to local radio station information on BBC Radio Solent, Heart FM, The Breeze, The Coast and Wave 105.
Parents can also look on www.hants.gov.uk/schoolclosures to check if the school is closed.
Provided some staff can make the journey into school, a message will be left on the school answerphone from 7:30am to inform you of a closure. A message will also be sent via ParentMail. Posters may also be attached to the school gates to inform you if the school is closed.
Please be aware that the Church car park may be very icy and dangerous and when the weather is severe it may be closed. Please take care when using the car park and pathways as they do become very slippery and you use it at your own risk. When the Church car park is closed, please access the pavements and paths via the front of the school and our main office entrance.
