OUR CURRICULUM INTENT
Our curriculum is driven by the need to prepare our children for lifelong learning in an ever changing world. At All Saints Church of England Primary, we offer a rich and vibrant curriculum which is ambitious for all learners. Through our curriculum, we develop the essential knowledge, skills and understanding children need - foundations built on our values of Love, Hope and Community.
Our aim is to enrich every child's school experience by creating an environment where they are encouraged to succeed and be the best version of themselves. The exploration of new knowledge, skills and experiences help to nurture resilience, curiosity and creativity. We provide learning experiences which promote confident, active and self-motivated pupils. The aims of our school curriculum are:
OUR CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION
We deliver a coherently planned curriculum with a clear progression of skills moving through a learning journey. Learning is carefully planned to ensure knowledge concepts and skills are built upon and regularly revisited to enable knowledge to be committed to the long term memory. Cross-curricular links are maximised where appropriate whilst the integrity of each individual subject is upheld. Our recursive curriculum supports key knowledge being built on throughout the school. Key ‘concepts’ are woven through our curriculum which have been deliberately selected based on our school aims and values and the geographical location of our school. Our recursive concepts are democracy, stewardship and legacy. We have chosen to use the city of Winchester in which we are situated to bring purpose and life to our curriculum.
IMPACT OF OUR CURRICULUM
Our curriculum places our children at the heart of what we do at All Saints, ensuring that children will be fully prepared for the next stage of education. We strive to ensure our children’s attainment in core and foundation subjects is in line or exceeding age related expectations. We assess children's progress through low stakes quizzes, ongoing formative assessment and timely phase summative assessments. All assessments are used to inform next steps in teaching and learning. Our work enables children to be well rounded and well informed individuals with the strength and positivity to embark on the next step in their journey. Drive and determination to be the best version of themselves shines from our pupils.
At All Saints CE Primary School all class teachers are responsible for providing a curriculum (DfE National Curriculum on gov.uk ) that is suitable for all pupils in the class, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) with support from the SENDCo. We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. Our inclusion statement emphasises the importance of providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils including those with SEND. Additional information can be found on this in our Special Educational Needs Information Report and Equalities Policy.
