PUPIL VOICE
At All Saints C of E Primary School we promote children’s rights to be listened to, to have an opinion and for their views to be valued. We work towards achieving this in a variety of ways. These include: children’s leadership roles, such as School Council, monitors' roles around the school, active involvement in verbal/written feedback, children’s opinions, ideas and views expressed during worships, circle times to develop discussion and also opportunities given for impromptu conversations on the playground and around the school. We nurture and encourage children to be confident in expressing their views, to speak confidently and to develop self-respect and pride which are very important skills for life. To support us with our discussions and expressing our views we use the strategy ' add, build and challenge' which encourages depth of discussion in a respectful manner. We are very proud of our children and pride ourselves as a whole school on being good listeners!
SCHOOL COUNCIL
Making our school the best it can be...
Our School Council gives all the children in the school a voice through the representatives that have been chosen by each class. Work as a School Councillor helps to put Article 12 of the Rights of a Child by the United Nations Conventions into practice. Article 12 says:
“Children have the right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinions taken into account.”
Key skills of speaking, listening and teamwork are key in the role of a School Councillor. Opinions will be greatly valued and appreciated when decisions are made regarding everyone’s education.
If children have any ideas or opinions that they would like to share, they can speak to one of the School Council Reps, put a note in the suggestion box or speak up at the next class School Council feedback session.
Remember – School Council is here to help the school be the best it can be!
Play your part!
Our School Council Mission Statement
School Council’s Mission is to make the school the best place it can be. Through our work, we aim to ensure all children’s voices are listened to and valued; that school is a happy and safe place.
We want to give every child and adult the best opportunities possible and ensure they feel included.
We will attend meetings and be organised.
We will feed back to our classes and share ideas.
We will continue to work on our ‘Keep Safe’ messages, environment, charity work
and ‘learning behaviours’ throughout the year.
