Inclusion and Diversity at All Saints
“Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.” – Jane Goodall
Promoting inclusion and diversity matters because we want equality of opportunity for all of our pupils, and for all our children to be the best they can be. Understanding and celebrating our commonality and our differences of all kinds helps build our children’s self-esteem and promotes a fairer and more equal society, which in turn supports their development, education and wellbeing.
It is vital that we at All Saints Church of England Primary help all children and families at our school feel valued and respected. Our vision and values are shaped to ensure our children learn to respond in a kind and fair way to everyone, regardless of age, ability, gender, skin colour, nationality, beliefs, language, culture, family background and so on. Our vision is built with the golden thread of Love running through to ensure all thrive and flourish:
All Saints is a calm, happy, inclusive and welcoming school, founded on love and hope, which work together to build a better community for everyone. We respect and care for all God’s people (of all faiths and none) and His world, playing our part in God’s plan as we journey together to achieve the best for ourselves and others.
We believe our world is a special place, and our diversity as well as our similarities are to be celebrated. Our uniqueness and differences enrich us and makes us stronger and more interesting – and that when we come together as a community we can shine and be at our best.
We want everyone child to flourish at All Saints and to genuinely feel that they belong and, as a result, develop a strong and positive sense of self and an appreciation of their own and others' uniqueness and identity. Ultimately, this will impact on the wider world we live in as the children in our school today will grow into tomorrow’s adults.
All Saints Church of England Primary is proud to be part of the Winchester and Eastleigh Inclusion and Diversity Partnership (WEIDP). As a school, we have signed up to and actively engage with the WEIDP Commitment to strengthen our work and bring our vision to life.
Inclusion and Diversity Partnership Commitment
The Aim
Through a focus on equality and diversity, settings will develop further into places where people genuinely feel that they belong and, as a result, they will develop a strong and positive sense of self and an appreciation of their own and others' uniqueness and identity.
Ultimately, this will impact on wider society as the children and young people in our schools today will grow into tomorrow’s adults. The partnership aims to shape children and develop critical thinking, skilling children up to challenge and confront prejudice, discrimination, and racism, in order for our communities to become inclusive in the broadest sense.
Read this PowerPoint information created by our EARA Group children to hear all about the work they lead in school to ensure everyone at All Saints has a voice.
We were delighted to team up with our wonderful School PTA to create this cookbook, which truly celebrates our School community and the rich diversity that makes us 'All Saints.' Everyone had the opportunity to put forward recipes that are special to them - delicious dishes from Turkey, Italy, Australia, India, Alaska, England, Thailand, Scotland, Brazil, Libya, Macedonia, Poland, Japan and Wales to name some of the countries and their delicious offerings. Every class has a copy of this book and we love nothing better than reading about where the recipes came from and the delightful pictures that run alongside, celebrating our families and their heritage.
