Lion Class Courageous Advocacy

Our courageous advocate is Jane Goodall, a significant historical woman who fought against injustice in Chimpanzee’s habitats and mistreatment.  She was passionate in ensuring that God’s world is protected, and that all living creatures—especially chimpanzees and their natural habitats—are treated with respect, compassion, and care. She studied chimpanzees for years and in her later life used her expertise to educate young children.

As part of our learning journey to develop our understanding of courageous advocacy we have:

• Learnt in detail about Jane and the impact her work has made on people and society
• Researched the Jane Goodall Conservation and the work they do there
• Investigated the use of illegally kept animals in and around our surrounding areas
• Read into Jane’s life before her research and what inspired her

To deepen our understanding we undertook a project to make an impact on our community focussing on raising money for her conservation:

• Communicating with The Roots and Shoots campaign in the UK
• Researching recipes that link to sustainable living
• Researching fair trade products and what these mean
• Use recipes with fair trade products to promote equal working rights
• Create recipes to raise money for Chimpanzees
• Bake our recipes in school and create labels to promote our ingredients
• Sell our products to the school community and spread awareness
• Learn about how our money raised can make a difference
• Donate to the Jane Goodall Conservation
• Discuss with the Roots and Shoots how our work can be promoted on their website
