Snow leopards had a wonderful time on world book day. As well as dressing up, sharing extracts from their favourite books and thinking about mechanimals from the book 'Cogheart', they also made zoetropes to create simple animations and watched them using Mrs White's record player!
As part of Safer Internet Day, our Cyber Ambassadors have reviewed and renewed our class Technology Charter with the simple rules we have to keep everyone safe. They then shared this in an assembly and have made sure everyone understands this. These are up on display around the school and we have sent home a copy for parents and carers so the rules can be followed at home as well as school. Thank you to the Cyber Ambassadors!
We have spent this week reflecting on what we do to keep both our bodies and minds healthy and well. A highlight has been Mrs Webb teaching the whole school some Mini-Me yoga moves to help with our breathing and positive mental health. We have also reflected on the Zones of Regulation and what strategies we can use depending on what Zone we feel we are in.
As the theme for this week has been 'Let's Connect' we have enjoyed the classes working and playing together in our school community.
So we haven't left out our lovely parents/carers, we have also hosted a Community Cafe at the end of the week so they too could 'connect' and enjoy some time to chat, catch up and have some delicious cakes made by our wonderful PTA.
Snow Leopards visit Winchester Cathedral.
Snow Leopards had an exciting time visiting the Winchester Science Museum INTECH. Please see their class page for more photographs!
As you can see from the slideshow, today (Wednesday 14th December) all the children made wonderful Christmas hats and wore them to enjoy their Christmas lunch.
Active 360 have been teaching Snow Leopards all about first aid and this week they focussed on using CPR, using a defibrillator and how to resuscitate someone.
Tigers, working with Winchester College, staged a ‘Museum Takeover Day’, a national initiative to inspire children to get involved with their local museums. The children are given meaningful roles, working alongside staff and volunteers to participate in the life of the museum. Last week they prepared for their exhibition (see Tigers class web page) and today the children learnt how to be tour guides, mount their exhibitions and host visitors. This was an exciting project for the children, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are so proud of the children who were just amazing today and led brilliantly. Thank you to Mrs Hughes and the team at Winchester College for all their support and for allowing us this opportunity.
Class 5, Snow Leopards, enjoyed their Winchester College river workshop on Wednesday morning—this visit brought their river unit of work to life and they enjoyed putting into practice their learning. Thankfully the sun came out in time!
Pandas, Snow Leopards and Tigers had an exciting opportunity of attending the Winchester College Music Concert last Monday and they all, including staff, thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to the talented musicians in such a wonderful surrounding.
