St Swithun's have posted the following about the Snow Leopards visit to them recently: "Yesterday we welcomed All Saints C of E Primary School to take an art class led by our very own Sixth Formers. It was a pleasure to have them use our facilities and it was great to see our girls host an art session". Snow Leopards really enjoyed making some fabulous sculptures, as you can see from the photos here, and the ones on the class webpage.
On Wednesday, Dolphins (Class 2) had wonderful trip to Southsea to encapsulate their learning this term. They used their geography knowledge and skills to undertake fieldwork studies to find out ‘Why People Visit the Beach?’ Incredibly blessed with the sunshine, they enjoyed a stroll down the promenade and sketching the pier. They had an amazing time exploring the sea creatures at the Blue Reef Aquarium. Please see all their photographs on the Class 2 webpage.
Dolphins enjoyed participating in a Fire Safety session given by our local fire department accompanied by Blaze the Bear! The children learnt about keeping themselves safe, we thought about the different emergency services and what to do in an emergency. Some of us had the opportunity to practice making an emergency call calmly and thinking about the information we might have to give to the operator. Some great pictures on the Class 2 webpage.
Snow Leopards were lucky enough to have a speaker from Southern Water, Joff Edevene on Monday 17th October, who came in and talked to us about how we can save water in our homes. Did you know the average adult uses up to 130 litres per day? We were extremely surprised by that! He shared lots of information with us about how we can save water including how often we flush the toilet, always filling the washing machine up rather than just washing a few things and having a water butt to collect and reuse rain water.
Our Geography ambassadors wrote some questions to ask Joff about water and our planet. He was very impressed with what we already knew!
Snow Leopards Class are now designing water saving posters which we will share with you when they are completed to help everyone in our school to do what we can towards saving water.
Our Early Years and Key Stage 1 children led us in a wonderful Harvest Service today, supported by KS2 and some super singing. Thank you to parents and carers who joined us and for the harvest donations which will be delivered to the Winchester Basics Bank. We are very grateful - huge thanks.
We had a most lovely service at All Saints Church today, led by Reverend Mike, to welcome our new Year R children and families to the school. The whole school sang beautifully, the Year 6 children spoke about our values so well and the Year R children did a superb job telling us all about what they are enjoying best about school so far! It was lovely to have our Year R families join us for the service and hope they enjoyed it. It was a very special end to the week.
Children in Class 2 and 3 enjoyed a walk over to St Andrews Church, a picnic and some fun activities in the afternoon.
