Congratulations to Iris for the idea of a bake sale at the Leisure Centre, which raised an amazing £654.25 for the school. Thank you to Iris, Carly, Arlo, Deniz, Sofia, Alex and Helen for helping to sell the wonderful cakes that so many people baked for the sale. Thank you to everyone.
On Friday, the children enjoyed a longer playtime so they could explore and play with our new outdoor games whilst raising money for the NSPCC. They had fun playing skittles, Twister, stick bat and ball, Jenga, target throw, parachute, snakes and ladders to name but a few games. They enjoyed playing in teams and had some fun in the sunshine, all whilst raising funds for a wonderful charity. Well done everyone - we raised a total of £204.61. A huge thank you!
We had a super week leading up to our Platinum Jubilee celebration. Each class worked hard to create a wonderful piece of art work depicting the Queen at various times during her reign, a poem on her majesty and history work thinking about her reign and the commonwealth. We were delighted to present our local community with some beautiful artwork to display in their windows to celebrate with us. The children's artwork just looked wonderful in the houses surrounding the school. Throughout the week children were busy during breaktimes making decorations and bunting - our 'bunting' working party was extremely busy!
On Thursday, children brought in their pre-learning - a 'Bake Off' challenge which involved children making six identical cup cakes to celebrate the Jubilee. School Council then had the very difficult job of voting for the winning entries, with lovely prizes such as the 'All Saints Bake Off' apron and cook books!
On Friday 27th May, we then celebrated by all dressing in red, white and blue and had a delicious picnic with food and drink supplied by our parents and carers. The PTA and staff ensured the children were fully waited on and had plenty to enjoy!
The afternoon culminated in a presentation for the winning cakes and poems. At the end of the day, the children sang a medley of songs to their parents - including of course a verse of the National Anthem. Reverend Mike then led us in a Jubilee prayer of thanksgiving. It was a truly special day and a wonderful way to finish the half term!
Well done everyone for all your contributions to such a special event!
